Gender Workshop-1

On 1st October 2022, a gender workshop was organised by Sarthak Foundation at IT College as part of their Sarthak Resilience Incubator Program. Around 150 girls from different colleges of Lucknow participated in it. The day began with a welcome note by Ms.Bhawna on behalf of Sarthak Foundation. Soon Ms. Shikha & Ms. Shivangi conducted an energizer. After this, Ms. Kshama conducted the first session in which participants were given handouts. Some sentences were written and participants had to identify them as true or false . In debriefing Ms. Kshama explained the differences between sex and gender. Next, a short video was played which showed daily routine of two siblings, a boy and a girl. The video successfully brought out the difference where girl has to do household chores whereas boy has no such responsibility and spends his day playing. Small group discussions were conducted around the video to understand gender roles in society. In the last session, a case study was presented. It revolved around professions that are differentiated on the basis of gender. The workshop ended with thank you followed by lunch and distribution of CCC books.
