Career counselling Seminar held at Goelplex Auditorium in collaboration with Vision IAS

A Career counselling Seminar was held on 30.9.23 at Goelplex Auditorium in collaboration with Vision IAS. The topic of the seminar was Building a Career with Civil  Services. The chief guest was Mr Madhav Upadhyay UPSC 148 rank holder. 

The program was divided into two parts. The first part was the speaker’s journey and preparation for the civil services. Mr Upadhyay is an Electrical Engineering BTech 2020 pass out. He told the students how he got inspired to do Civil services. He said that Civil services is done with a desire to serve people, status factor and social prestige attached with the Services.

Then he cleared the doubt of students. One question was whether UP board students were weak as compared to CBSE students. To this he clarified that all students are equal, only the dedication and hard work matters. He said that language is no barrier you can give answers in Hindi as well as in English in IAS Mains examination. Another question was why he preferred IAS over engineering. To this he replied that he desired to serve the people and because of the prestige and social status attached with the IAS services. Another question was what was the role of his parents, to this he replied that his parents were most supportive and positive about his efforts. IAS is preferred to other jobs because of its diversity social status, prestige, authority and ability to help others. It leads to self actualization according to Maslow’s Need theory. He said that NCERT books are a good base for IAS exams. Multiple readings are to be done for success. He said that financial condition is not a problem instead it is a motivator. Patience Perseverance and  hard work is the key to success. Further one should choose optionals in Mains examination according to one’s background and interest area.

The program ended with a vote of thanks by  IQAC head Mr Abhishek Tripathi.

The program was a huge success. The students gained a lot from the program.
