(Sexual Harassment Committee)

INTRODUCTION

As per the Honorable Supreme Court decision, educational institutions are required to form a prevention of sexual harassment cell/committee for protecting women employees and female students against possible harassment in the workplace. The court defined sexual harassment very clearly and provided mandatory guidelines known as the “Vishaka guidelines” for employers to redress and prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. The guidelines are a broad framework that puts emphasis on prevention and an important preventive measure is to adopt a sexual harassment policy that prohibits sexual harassment in the workplace and provides effective grievance procedures.

In deference to the guidelines described above, Goel  Institute of Higher Studies Mahavidyalaya known as GIHSM has constituted a sexual harassment cell GIHSM is committed to providing and promoting an atmosphere in which employees can realise their potential in a safe, friendly positive and productive environment by making the workplace free from sexual harassment.

VISION AND MISSION OF PRATIGYA COMMITTEE

In order to articulate the goals and ambitions of the Prtigya Committee and to have a road map for the Prtigya Committee it was decided to have a vision and mission statement for Prtigya Committee. The vision and mission statement coined for Prtigya Committee, tries to define and drive quality in Goel Institute of Higher Studies Mahavidyalaya (GIHSM), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Creating awareness among female students /faculty/staff of GIHSM about sexual harassment and their legal rights.

To create and maintain healthy environment for students and staff of the college

OUR OBJECTIVES

  • To maintain a congenial working environment for Women Employees and students of GIHSM
  • To develop procedures to combat sexual harassment
  • To deal with cases of discrimination and sexual harassment in a time-bound manner
  • To solve issues pertaining to women’s sexual harassment.
  • To equip the female students, faculty and staff members with knowledge of their legal rights.
  • To provide a platform for listening to the complaints and redressal of grievances.
  • To ensure a healthy atmosphere in the college
