Introduction:

Goel Institute of Higher Studies Mahavidyalaya (GIHSM) believes that a safe, secure and cohesive climate is an ineluctable precondition to quality education. It should be the prime concern of educational administration to ensure that students are safeguarded against attacks, threats and accidents, both manmade and natural. With this mind a committee has formulated under the guidelines of Lucknow University & AICTE which will foster students’ safety, security and study.

Vision:

To prohibit prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging including any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any student, or indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student or asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or
embarrassment.

Mission:

GIHS have a strict zero-tolerance policy against ragging and any other form of harassment among our students. We believe in promoting warm and friendly relationships among our students that they can cherish in the long-run. The ragging is totally prohibited in this institution, and anyone found guilty of ragging and / or abetting ragging, whether actively or passively, or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished in accordance with the UGC Ragging on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Education Institution, 2009, Lucknow University and as well as under the provisions of any penal law for the time being in
force such as the U.P. Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Act, 2010 and the use of alcohol is also strictly prohibited in this campus.

Objective:
1. To eliminate ragging in all forms from the institute by prohibiting it under the regulations of UGC & Lucknow University.
2. Anti-ragging will be the supervisory & committee in preserving a culture of Ragging Free environment in the college campus.

Activities Undertaken:
1. Formulation of Anti-ragging Squad
2. Setting Objectives, vision, mission and functions of anti ragging committee.
3. Awareness program for ragging free campus by displaying various massages in different portions of institute.
4. To monitor an undertaking in the prescribed format from the candidate concerned on anti ragging at the time of admission
5. To address the students and parents by the Head of institutions on anti ragging.
6. Educative programs for students of different classes about the “Zero tolerance” policy for ragging and its consequences.
